Description

The Mexican Hogfish (Bodianus diplotaenia) is a strikingly colourful marine fish found in the warm waters of the Eastern Pacific, notably around the Gulf of California and the Revillagigedo Islands. Recognized by its vibrant red-orange body, contrasting with electric blue markings, it's a prized addition to marine aquariums. Growing up to 12 inches (30 cm) in length, they require a spacious tank with plenty of hiding spots and a varied diet consisting of meaty foods like shrimp, squid, and small fish. Maintain water temperature between 24-27°C (75-80°F), pH levels of 8.1-8.4, and a specific gravity of 1.020-1.025. Regular water quality checks and adequate filtration are crucial for their well-being.
