LPS Corals

Large Polyp Stony Corals include some of the most colourful and interesting coral species for reef aquariums with many species just as suitable for beginners as they are for experienced hobbyists. Many of these 'hard corals' are far less demanding of light and water clarity/ quality than their small polyp stony cousins in the SPS group, but like all corals, LPS corals will benefit from a stable KH of around 8 dKH>, low nutrient water, quality lighting and regular feeding.

These large polyp varieties usually exhibit high fluorescence and add movement to the aquarium, but be sure to research the species that interest you for possible aggression, as some of these corals can implement long sweeping stinger tentacles or digestive mesenterial filaments to maintain or expand their position on the reef.
